On your profile
A short, warm line says plenty.
You might mention your church, what your faith means to you day to day, or how you like to serve. Keep it personal and positive, and let it sit alongside the other things that make you who you are.
- Instead of "Christian, must be the same", try "My faith is a big part of my life. You'll usually find me at church on Sunday morning and walking the dog after."
In early conversations
Ask, listen and share, a little at a time.
Faith means different things to different people, even within the same church. Rather than assuming, ask what it means to them. Questions such as "How did you come to faith?" or "What does church look like for you?" open a real conversation.
On a first date
- Be yourself. If your faith is important to you, it's fine to say so.
- Keep it a conversation. Share your story and hear theirs, rather than running through a list of questions.
- Leave room for everything else. Hobbies, family, work and humour all matter too.
When you see things differently
You may meet people from different churches or traditions, or with different views on some things. That doesn't have to be a problem. Our guides on dating someone from a different church or denomination and dating someone who doesn't share your faith may help.
