Common ground first
You may have far more in common than you expect.
Christians from different churches and traditions often share the same core beliefs and values. Starting from what you share makes it easier to talk about where you differ.
Things worth talking about
- How you worship. Style of service, music, and how often you go.
- What church means to you. Is it the centre of your social life, or one part of it?
- Practical things. If things get serious, where would you go together on a Sunday?
- Family. How your families might feel, and, if it applies, how you'd raise children.
Try each other's church
Visiting each other's church can be a lovely way to understand one another. Go with an open mind, ask questions afterwards, and share what you enjoyed.
Know what matters most to you
Some differences will feel small, others important. It helps to know which is which for you, and to be honest about it early on. Read talking about your faith early on for more.
