Keep it short and simple
The best first dates are easy to say yes to and easy to end politely.
An hour or two is plenty. You're only trying to answer one question: would I like to see this person again?
Ideas where you can really talk
- Coffee or brunch. Daytime, relaxed, and easy to stay longer if you're getting on.
- A walk in a park or along a river. Walking side by side makes conversation easy.
- A cathedral, historic church or museum. Many are free to visit, quiet, and full of things to talk about.
- A concert or choir performance. Pick something with a café nearby so you can chat afterwards.
- A community event or charity fundraiser. A relaxed setting, and a chance to see what you both care about.
- Lunch somewhere quiet. Easier to talk than a busy evening restaurant.
Before you go
- Meet somewhere public and get yourself there and back.
- Tell a friend where you're going and when you expect to be home.
- Check their profile one more time. The ID Verified tick and a good rating are good signs. Read what the badges mean.
Trust your instincts. If a date asks you for money, pushes you to go somewhere you didn't plan, or makes you uncomfortable, it's fine to leave. You can report a profile at any time, and the 24-hour Customer Success team is always there to help.
Afterwards
A quick message the same day or the next is always appreciated. If you'd like to see them again, say so. If you wouldn't, a kind and honest reply is far better than silence.
